There was a problem loading comments right now. The bad news is, you have to download a patch right off the bat from Intervideo's web site. They do not make it easy, the patch is at the bottom of the page of FAQs, so they make you hunt for it. For the price of the WinDVD, they should have include everything you need in the box.
Or else Nvidea should have included the necessary DVD program with their product. Also, the loading time for WinDVD 8 seems extreme, maybe I am spoiled, but when almost all other programs are ready for use immediately, the wait for WinDVD 8 seems way too long, but using SLI may have something to do with the wait, I haven't tried it in a single video card machine.
You can see a difference compared to the software only, especially during action scenes. In fairness to Intervideo, I don't know if buying their competitors product would have been any better, and I am quite happy with the final picture outcome.
I had a simple question about making clips from videos and why I was not getting sound. Do they even have sound? Its four weeks plus and I still have not recieved an answer. Pro: Good-looking interface with lots of features Cons: Installation overloaded with 3rd party softwares. Give me a break! The reason this product is junk is because it was bought out by a company with no integrity.
Find the "real" "old version" and you will have a great product. Look for Intervideo Windvd Platinum. If it doesn't say "Intervideo" it is the cover up of a "new" bad product.
I have been using the "old version", the one that says Intervideo from till November It isn't always trying to connect to the internet and provide someone all of your viewing activities or forever "updating". It just runs smooth and isn't trying to sell me something every little bit. I forgot the most import part. If the product is by Corel, it is the problem. They have added the Intervideo name so that people can be fooled by the original extremely good product.
This product is simply the best DVD playback software. From everything you can do with it, from simply watching DVDs. Nothing else can out do this. The sound would always go up and down and be very soft. It was outstanding, never had better playback, and the picture was brighter and more vivid.
However, being that I am in Iraq, I really don't have the bandwidth to download the upgrade. Which is really cool, just a simple click, and it goes away. I don't know what the other guy is complaining about, I never had a problem with the install, or an uninstall.
This software is the BEST, and dominates all the rest. Simply put, my computer had some issues and in getting them resolved, anything not already installed on the hardrive with purchase had to be re-installed.
I've given up trying to get the program working and I don't even have Vista! I have XP. It's not! And don't think Corel's tech support can help you -- they can't. Lastly, if anybody has a working copy of WinDVD 7, put it away in a safe place. You might need one day and they ain't making no more As you can see, most of the bad reviews listed below are from Windows Vista users.
It's a bit unfair of them negging this item, since they were the ones gullible enough to go and buy Vista, which is the source of many software incompatibility problems.
Stick with Windows XP! But that's another story. The old VGUI was a bit clumsy and inconvenient to use- this new one is much more streamlined, and runs faster as well. Haven't had any crashes yet, installation was fine. I bought this download and it never worked. What is worse is that I could not get any help from Coral either.
